Saturday 23 June

Transfer day from San Ignatio to Caye Caulker was pretty pain free. 3 hours in the local bus to Belize City and then a taxi to the Ferry port and transfer by boat for 45 minutes to Caye Caulker. I arrived on the island in time to book in some diving for the following day out to Turneffe reef and to eat a delicious lobster dinner at Wish Willies!

Sunday 24 June - Diving at Turneffe Atoll

Today was my first day of diving in Belize and we were headed out to the Turneffe Reef – about 1 hour and 10 minutes by boat from the local dock. The Belize Diving Company was very fancy and they had a big boat which was very lucky as it was quite choppy heading out to the reef! Our first dive was amazing – we had a Grey Nurse Shark swim right under us in the first few minutes of the dive and keep appearing periodically to keep the dive interesting! We also saw Morey Eels swimming which is pretty rare. The coral was pristine and there were no other dive boats to be seen anywhere around. It was 60 minutes of great diving! After a relax and delicious lunch on board we had our second dive. The visibility on this one wasn’t as good and there wasn’t as much to see but it was still incredible! It was a great day all round of diving! Tomorrow I’m heading to the Blue Hole and I can’t wait!
